Eligibility Criteria:

  1. ELIGIBILITY:

The Unigo.com Unigo 10K Scholarship contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, aged fourteen (14) years or older at the time of application. Applicants must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll (no later than the fall of 2028) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning. Employees, officers, directors, and agents of Sponsor, along with their immediate families and individuals residing at the same address, are not eligible to win. Void where prohibited.

  1. HOW TO ENTER:

Submit a complete scholarship application online at the Sponsor’s Website (www.unigo.com/scholarships/our-scholarships) from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, by 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Limit one (1) application per person, including name, contact information, background details, academic details, and a short, original, unpublished written response to the scholarship topic: “Would you rather be smart, funny, or rich? Why?” (250 words or less). Submissions must be in English, with correct spelling and grammar, and must not exceed 250 words.

  1. SELECTION OF POTENTIAL WINNERS:

A panel of judges will assess applications based on writing ability (25%), creativity (25%), originality (25%), and overall excellence (25%). On or about March 30, 2024, one (1) potential winner will be selected. In the event of a tie, the applicant with the higher score for overall excellence will be chosen. The potential winner will be notified by email and required to sign further documentation.

  1. PRIZES:

One (1) winner will receive a Scholarship Prize of $10,000. The prize will be in the form of a check made payable directly to the accredited post-secondary institution attended by the Scholarship Prize Recipient. Proof of enrollment must be submitted by 2028. The Scholarship Prize is non-transferable, and no cash equivalent will be awarded.

  1. PRIVACY:

By submitting an application, applicants acknowledge that the Sponsor may contact them with information deemed of interest, subject to the Sponsor’s privacy policy.

  1. PUBLICITY:

Scholarship Prize Recipients agree that the Sponsor may use their name, voice, and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without further compensation.

  1. OWNERSHIP:

By submitting an application, applicants acknowledge that the Sponsor will own all rights to the application, including the written response. Each applicant grants the Sponsor all present and future rights, including copyrights, for exploitation throughout the universe, in perpetuity, by any means and devices now known or hereafter devised. The Sponsor has the right to edit, alter, or use the application for any purpose deemed necessary.

  1. DISPUTE RESOLUTION:

By participating, the Applicant agrees that all matters related to the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, as well as the rights and obligations of participants and Sponsor, will be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the state of Oregon. The Applicant consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Oregon for any legal actions related to this Scholarship Program.

Furthermore, the Applicant agrees that any disputes arising from or connected to this Scholarship Program will be resolved individually, without resorting to any form of class action. Claims and awards will be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees. Participants waive the right to claim punitive, incidental, and consequential damages, and any other damages beyond actual out-of-pocket expenses.

  1. REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES/INDEMNIFICATION:

Each participant affirms that their Application, including the written response, is original, unpublished, and not subject to any litigation or claim. The written response should not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others or violate any laws. Participants agree to indemnify and hold the Sponsor harmless from any third-party claims, actions, or proceedings arising from any breach of these warranties.

  1. FURTHER DOCUMENTATION:

Potential Scholarship Prize Recipients may be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Publicity/Liability Release, and Copyright Assignment within ten (10) days of notification. Failure to comply may result in disqualification, and the next highest-scoring applicant may become an alternate potential Scholarship Prize Recipient.

  1. NO OBLIGATION TO USE:

Sponsor is not obligated to use any winning Application or continue its development, production, distribution, or exploitation. Sponsor may abandon the use of the winning Application at any time without legal justification, and Scholarship Prize Recipients are not entitled to damages or relief for such decisions.

  1. IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ – GENERAL RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY:

By participating in the Scholarship Program, each Applicant acknowledges and agrees that the Sponsor, its related companies, affiliates, and respective employees, officers, directors, and agents are not liable for any costs, injuries, losses, or damages arising from or in connection with: (i) incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries or failure to receive Applications due to any cause, including human, transmission, or technical problems, failures, or malfunctions; or (ii) any injury or damage resulting, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Scholarship Program and/or the use of any prize. This includes, without limitation, claims related to personal injuries, death, damage to property, or any claims based on the Applicant’s rights of publicity or privacy.

Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any damage to an Applicant’s computer system, malfunctions, errors, delayed transmissions, or network connections related to accessing the Website or participating in the Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is subject to all U.S. federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.

  1. SPONSOR’S RIGHT TO MODIFY, SUSPEND, OR TERMINATE:

If Sponsor is unable to continue the Scholarship Program due to events beyond its control, it reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the program in its sole discretion.

  1. GENERAL PROVISIONS:

Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual found tampering with the application process, violating Official Rules, submitting dishonest or inaccurate responses, or behaving in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. In case of a dispute about entrant identity, the authorized account holder of the email address used for entry will be deemed the entrant. If an Application is erroneously deleted, lost, or destroyed, the entrant’s sole remedy is another Application if time permits. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules does not constitute a waiver.

  1. LIST OF SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE RECIPIENTS:

The names of the Scholarship Prize Recipients will be posted on the Unigo.com Website under “Our Scholarships Winners.”
