The Kardashians is finally back, but the first episode of season 2 had a somber tone, due to Khloé Kardashian’s depression and anxiety, as she awaited the arrival of her second child with Tristan Thompson. By now, most fans of the Hulu series (and anyone else with a smartphone) are likely well aware of Tristan’s onslaught of cheating scandals. The latest one centered on Tristan fathering a child with Maralee Nichols, the same night that Khloé threw him an elaborate birthday party.
While Tristan initially denied that Maralee’s baby was his (after a DNA test confirmed it), he eventually took accountability for his actions. Khloé was blindsided, and didn’t make a statement about the scandal at first. His other cheating scandals include, but are not limited to, hookups with Kyle Jenner’s former best friend, Jordyn Woods and model, Sydney Chase.
Despite all of the above, The Kardashians season 1 showed Tristan and Khloé co-parenting, watching aliens, pondering a second baby via surrogacy, and potentially making amends. She frequently called him her best friend, and said that she had seen growth in him. This was all before the news of his child with Maralee broke. Then, fans discovered that Khloé and Tristan conceived their child with a surrogate’s assistance. In episode 1, “Time To Talk About Bruno,” a subtle reference to Disney’s Encanto, she stated that it’s “sad, the whole circumstances.” As Khloé shared the story with production in her interview, it seemed like she might be living with mental health issues. She shared that, at the end of last season, when the news about Maralee’s son broke, she and Tristan had just done an embryo transfer. Khloé admitted this to Kim Kardashian, out of the camera’s microphone’s range. More recently, Khloé posted a sweet photo with True Thompson and Dream Kardashian, from a vacation.

As the episode got rolling, it seemed like Tristan was trying to trap Khloé into a second pregnancy (and possibly a relationship with him), before news of his other child made headlines. While episode 1’s general mood is incredibly morose, it ends on a resilient note, with Khloé’s family rallying behind her. It’s always darkest before the dawn, and while Khloé had been ignoring her pregnancy, she stepped into a place of gratitude, showing deeper appreciation for her family, and her unborn son. Kylie Jenner chimed in, saying that if Khloé was ok, she’d be concerned. Khloé made it clear that she didn’t want people to think she chose to have a baby after the news broke. She shared, “Why would I want to have a baby with someone who’s having a baby with someone else cus I’m not much of a sociopath. I’m a lunatic but not that f**king deranged.”
The Kardashians’ Khloé Had A Baby Shower
Then, the Kar-Jenners and their closest friends threw Khloé a baby shower. She may not have been ready to celebrate, but by the time her son arrived on camera, it was clear that he had the power to break so much tension. He brought all the love that Kim promised he’d bring. Khloé said, “I love my mom for forcing me to have this baby shower.” As they debated baby names, Tupac, Tide, and Ten were floated as additional “T” options. Now, Khloé and Tristan are both moving on, and only wish the best for one another. Kim reinforced that this baby will show Khloé what real love is supposed to be like, remarking that her sister doesn’t need to be so hard on herself. While Tristan almost destroyed both of Khloé’s pregnancy journeys, there were women in her life who lifted her up, empowering her to enjoy the milestones, even when the pro NBA player let her down.
