Samsung has made huge strides over the past few years with its update cadence across the entire range of devices. With that in mind, here’s every smartphone and tablet Samsung updated with the August 2022 security patch.
Samsung August 2022 Security Update – What’s New
Almost all security updates include a number of important security fixes, most of them include general Android tweaks, but there are some that are specific to Samsung devices. The Korean company released the full details in its usual system Security Update Bulletin With a number of critical and high issues resolved.
The August 2022 security update for Samsung Galaxy devices includes a number of workarounds including fixes for MAC address leaks when connected to Bluetooth or NFC devices, a fix for a Knox VPN vulnerability, a fix for an issue where apps can process mobile data when connected to Wi-Fi, and to much more. All in all, about 31 vulnerabilities have been patched this time around with Google providing a number of fixes as well.
Patch notes from the actual OTA file Some owners see notes that several Galaxy apps for select phones have also been updated with Samsung Health, Samsung Members and Smart Switch all received modifications.
Devices with the Samsung August 2022 security update
As noted, Samsung has really upped its game in terms of updates in recent years. In fact, Samsung pushed the August 2022 security update to devices as early as July 28. This will undoubtedly expand to a wide range of phones over the coming days and weeks as more OTA updates arrive on a large number of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets worldwide.
This list will include a note on where the update first appeared and if it’s also available in the US. As usual, the latest additions will be highlighted in bold.
Galaxy S series
As the flag-bearer of Samsung’s smartphone efforts, it should come as no surprise that the Galaxy S series is at the forefront of the update schedule every month. The latest Galaxy S series devices are often among the first on Android to get the latest security patch.
This was proven true with the August 2022 security update, with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series seeing the patch in select regions of July 28. This patch weighed around 420MB and includes some tweaks to the PenUP app along with some core Samsung apps including Galaxy Wearable app. Most impressive is the Galaxy S21 and S20 series Updated Just hours later in European markets too.
Although it is part of the S20 series, the Galaxy S20 FE was released later in 2020. This means that it is often updated a little later than the regular “premium” Galaxy S20 series. However, updates keep flowing and the S20 FE is now seeing the latest patch in Europe.

Galaxy Note series
The latest release of the Galaxy S22 Ultra puts the final nail in the coffin of the Galaxy Note series. Although there have been no new devices since 2020, Samsung continues to push updates to any existing and supported Note phones.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 unlocked versions are starting to see August security according to SamMobile. This includes the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra but it’s not entirely clear which networks the OTA update is available on at this point. Now might be a good time to check if you own a locked model with your Note 20.
Android 12 and One UI 4.0 It marks the final update for the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ and as part of Samsung’s four-year support commitment, the duo will continue to get regular monthly patches until late 2023. The August 2022 security update is now rolling out to penultimate Note series phones in Europe.

Galaxy Fold series
The Galaxy Fold or Z Fold series is arguably the flagship of the Samsung Galaxy lineup, and it has grown exponentially over the past few years. While we wait for more news about the next generation, the current flagship Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first In the group for the August 2022 security update.

Galaxy Flip series
The Galaxy Flip series is arguably third in Samsung’s smartphone rankings behind the Fold and S lines. How to check for the latest OTA on your Galaxy device
If your device is already scheduled to be updated, but the patch did not reach you in person, you can try to update manually. Simply open the Settings app, tap Software Update, and choose Download and Install.
