You will provide strategic and operational support to the Alliance, coordinating the Secretariat and keeping us on-track to deliver on our projects. Working collaboratively across the entire global Alliance network, you will help advance the Alliance agenda. This unique opportunity involves working with some of the world’s most prominent institutions and individuals in the fields of wildlife, fishing, mining, and forestry crime; anti-corruption and anti-money laundering; community and indigenous peoples rights; law enforcement; and innovative technologies for conservation.Your role will be central to the day-to-day running of the Secretariat and you will thus have close working relationships across the entire Secretariat team, including the management, research, outreach, communications, and grants and finance teams.
You will report to the Head of Secretariat, Nature Crime Alliance.
You will be based out of the WRI London office. This position can also be considered for the WRI Hague office or the WRI DC Global office.
This position will be a hybrid model of remote and in-office work, with occasional international travel.
What you will do:
Program Management (35% time)
Support team building, strategy development, and work planning by running regular ‘team days’
Lead donor reporting requirements, ensure donor policies are followed, and support relationship management with the donors
Help maintain relationships between the Secretariat and Alliance participants across geographies, especially as first point of contact for new member requests.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (25% time)
Coordinate the development of a results-based framework, including input from across the Secretariat team to ensure broad buy-in and common understanding of our theory of change
Input into the development of project deliverables; quality assess outputs; and track progress towards planned outcomes
Lead on baseline, mid-term and final evaluation processes and ensure that appropriate external resources are commissioned to support the process.
Coordination (25% time)
Support preparations for regular meetings, both virtual and in-person, of the Alliance governing bodies (such as quarterly meetings of the Steering Committee or Alliance annual full member meetings)
Research and maintain list of possible outreach events (in collaboration with the communications team)
Support the team on administrative matters such as tracking membership, travel arrangements, report publication, and running events and team days
Coordinate work planning and teams across diverse geographies, organisations and offices.
Fundraising (15% time)
Track fundraising proposals and oversee project proposal preparation for larger proposals that include several team members (in collaboration with the WRI Development team).
What you will need:
Experience: 4+ years’ relevant experience, including experience in:
Developing monitoring frameworks for complex projects
Working with large (1 million USD +) grants, ensuring that reporting requirements and deadlines from donors are met
Working with geographically dispersed teams and different stakeholder groups (i.e. government, private sector, civil society, academia, local community and indigenous groups).
Languages: English proficiency (spoken and written) required.
Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.
