Kim Kardashian is speaking highly of Kanye West by crediting her ex-husband for helping The Kardashians star gain more “respect” in Hollywood.
Kim Kardashian can admit that she started to gain more “respect” in Hollywood thanks in large part to The Kardashians star’s ex-husband Kanye West. Kim has avoided bad-mouthing Kanye in wake of her divorce filing. In recent weeks, Kanye has returned to blasting her and her ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson on social media. Kim remains silent about Kanye’s online antics, and it’s likely because of all the love and respect she still has for her ex-husband.
Kim is on her third divorce but the first one that involves children. Amid Kim and Kanye finalizing their divorce, the couple is still at odds over issues related to co-parenting. Kanye’s latest quarrel stemmed from his desire to have the West children attend his new Donda Academy and not Sierra Canyon where Kim has them. He made things about race while revealing text messages where he asked Kim why she thought she could control where their kids went to school. “Is it because you’re half white,” he exclaimed. By Monday, Kanye updated his fans and let them know he had a “good meeting” with Kim about their kids’ schooling.
Despite Kanye’s latest social media attack against Kim and Kris Jenner, the SKIMS founder still had positive things to say about her ex on her new cover for Interview magazine. Kim knows she had a certain perception in Hollywood prior to dating Kanye and credits her ex-husband for helping her gain more recognition as a public figure once they started dating. “I mean, when I was with Kanye, and he was introducing me to a lot of people, I think that definitely got a lot of people to have a different level of respect,” Kim shared. The former couple spent nearly a decade together after they started dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce from Kanye after nearly seven years of marriage.
Kanye didn’t take the divorce filing in jest. At the time of the filing, he reportedly cut off communication with Kim and would only allow her to contact him through his security. Around his birthday, Kanye started fueling dating rumors with Russian model Irina Shayk. Kim and Kanye would become friendly again in the summer of 2021 and attend family outings together. Kanye even supported Kim when she hosted Saturday Night Live. But once he learned that Kim was dating the show’s star, the rap/fashion mogul started making attempts to win Kim back. After she filed to become legally single, Kanye stopped trying to repair his marriage and seemingly sought vengeance.

He spent weeks tormenting Kim and Pete on social media, even having cartoons act out Pete’s death in one of his music videos. The Kardashians star wasn’t in support of Kanye’s antics and still is “livid” that he took another jab at Pete after their breakup. But no matter what Kanye says or does, Kim still shows respect for her ex-husband in public. The reality star has moved on with her life and continues to gain fame and fortune.
